The Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) is a nonprofit organization that is devoted to educational excellence in all Irvine public schools. Its mission is to enrich the educational experience of every child in every school, and it does this by providing programs, raising funds, and uniting the community in support of educational excellence. Alumni have a key role to play in helping IPSF achieve its goals. Volunteers are essential to the success of IPSF. They help coordinate events, organize class reunion activities, welcome students at the start of the school year, serve at events, and much more.
As an example of alumni involvement, IPSF partnered with the Angels Baseball Foundation to organize the 6th edition of their annual Aces & Angels event on Sunday, July 22nd. IPSF also works to provide STEM educational resources to high school students. Through its STEM CubeSat program, IPSF strives to inspire the next generation of innovative thinkers, creators, programmers, and explorers. Additionally, IPSF has launched an Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) pilot enrichment program that requires monitoring and instruction from a successful candidate. On Tuesday, November 28th, Irvine's 39 schools came together to turn Irvine orange in support of IPSF. This event was organized by IPSF in partnership with the Irvine Unified Council PTA (IUCPTA).
The organization is committed to expanding its funding for essential programs such as teaching music to all children, STEAM initiatives, strong extracurricular and summer programs, grants to teachers for innovative teaching methods, and funding for sports coaches and school nurses. As president and CEO of IPSF, one of the nation's leading educational foundations, Dr. Susan Smith has been tasked with ensuring that high-quality enrichment programs in critical areas such as arts, music, science, health and wellness, and mathematics are maintained in public schools.
