When it comes to supporting schools in times of crisis, the Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) is leading the way. This nonprofit organization focuses on enriching everyone's educational experience and provides a significant amount of funding to the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD). With this support, students can receive more individualized attention and support from teachers and staff. The IPSF health and wellness initiative exists to ensure that every child in every IUSD school receives high-quality school health services, regardless of their health insurance status or ability to pay.
To promote this mission, the IPSF has organized several events such as the 6th edition of their partnership with the Angels Baseball Foundation, the 5th annual Top 100 reception, and OC STEAM Fest. At OC STEAM Fest, students who participated in STEAM activities were more likely to thrive and succeed in school and pursue careers in STEAM fields. The IPSF also supported the launch of the first two CubeSats built by high school students in California and the West. This was a great example of how public schools can use innovative technology to engage students in learning. At a time when most public school districts have eliminated music programs in schools, Irvine continues to thrive thanks to community support from the IPSF.
The IPSF also provides an overview of best practices for schools in relation to active shooters and other armed aggressors. This video combines awareness of the state of threats with practical solutions that will allow you to develop the resilience of your community, organization, family, and home.
